Career
Her career began when she went to Manhattan at 14 after failing out of 8th grade. After her first cold read, agents told her mother “it was the best cold read by a 14-year-old they had ever heard,” and tried to convince her stage mother to spend the summer in Manhattan. Jennifer was invited to take her photo by an agent while shooting an H&M ad after quitting the agency. Next day, that agency asked her to a cold-read audition at the studio. Again, the agents were impressed and persuaded her mother to let her spend the summer in NYC. Luckily, she did and starred in MTV’s “My Super Sweet 16” ad and The Devil You Know (2013).
After that, her profession prompted her and her family to move to Los Angeles, where she appeared in The Bill Engvall Show (2007) and smaller films like The Poker House (2008) and The Burning Plain (2008).

Her breakthrough role as Ree in Winter’s Bone (2010) earned her Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations. After that, she played Mystique in X-Men: First Class (2011), a summer success. With almost $407 million at the US box office, the picture pushed Lawrence to the top of the young actor and actress list. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013), Mockingjay – Part 1 (2014), and Part 2 (2015) were released in November each year, with Lawrence repeating her role.
